Recho Ward, who asked us to call her Rachel, her English name, worked as a live-in carer looking after my mother. My mother was suffering for bad arthritis and mild dementia. Before Rachel started working for us my mother difficulty getting around and could get very frustrated. The first thing Rachel did was to arrange a mobility assessment and to get aids to help my mother. The higher chair for her to sit in changed her life. I always felt Rachel was a reliable, caring person who I could trust to give my mother the best possible care. Certainly my mother was much happier and really liked Rachel. She said that Rachel was a real friend who tried very hard to make her as comfortable as possible. She also said Rachel was very sensitive in the way she dealt with personal matters and her medication. One day when I visited, I could understand why my mother liked Rachel so much. There was music coming from the kitchen and I found them both dancing together. My mother loved to dance when she was younger. Rachel explained it was a good way to get her to exercise. Sadly my mother’s dementia over time got much worse and she became very confused. Getting up several times during the night. As a result we had no choice to move her into a care home. At least, thanks to Rachel, her last days at home were enjoyable ones. I have no hesitation in recommending Rachel Ward for a caring role. Jane Foster

Racho Ward cared for my dad for nearly 2 years until he died. When he fell over he was taken into hospital. I was told he could not go back home when he was discharged as he was not fit to look after himself and the staff said I had to find a nursing home for him. Dad was an independent of person and was very unhappy at the prospect. My sister and I decided it would be better if he went to live at home and looked at how we could do this. In the end we decided to employ a live in carer. It was not as expensive as we thought. We employed Recho. She was wonderful and really knew what to do. When he left hospital, my dad had a nasty ulcer on his leg. Recho regularly dresses this, looked after him and making sure he took his tablets. The sore on his leg which soon started to improve. My dad was a lot happier and really liked Recho, she was very kind and understanding with him. When COVID started Recho said it would be better if she stayed inside with my dad. I brought food and left it at the door waving to them both through the window. It was very kind of her to do that to put herself out to keep my dad safe. She really cared about him. Having Recho look after my dad took away my worries he was very happy. When passed away he was 94. My sister and I were so pleased he could live out his final days at home with somebody who looked after him so well. I have not hesitation in recommending Recho Ward to work as a carer. Dorothy Bailey
